Sectoral approach

Many industries have identified that human resource development is a large undertaking and can be best be dealt with through the creation of a sector council.

Sector councils were established to address industry specific human resource needs. Right now, there are over 29 sector councils representing more than 1/3 of the Canadian workforce.

Sector Councils bring together various industry participants, such as management, labour, and industry associations to work on common human resource needs and develop appropriate training courses and services.

The end result is – sector councils take on the task of creating industry-specific training and human resource programs, and allow individual companies to spend their time working towards other important goals.
